Using your card
THE PASSPORT THAT TAKES YOU FURTHER
SIMPLY LOAD AND GO
Cash Passport is a new way of managing your money while travelling abroad. As safe as travellers cheques, but more convenient, you can securely and easily pre-load the Cash Passport with your travel budget for use in ATMs, shops and restaurants worldwide.
USING YOUR CASH PASSPORT
BEFORE YOU GO - THIS BIT IS IMPORTANT!
Please sign the back of your Card as soon as you get it, then memorise your PIN. If you bought your MasterCard Cash Passport online, then please call 0800 015 0401 to activate your Card and access your PIN.
USING CASH PASSPORT TO MAKE ATM WITHDRAWALS
Just like a debit card, you can use your Cash Passport at ATMs worldwide displaying the MasterCard® Acceptance Mark. Simply enter your PIN and how much you want to take out (up to the available balance on your Card). After that, all you have to worry about is what to spend the money on.
Customer feedback suggests that some countries may impose their own daily or weekly ATM withdrawal limits, which override higher limits on payment cards, including your Cash Passport.
Merchant transactions and ATM withdrawals in a currency other than the currency of the Card will be exchanged to the currency on the Card at an exchange rate determined by MasterCard on the day the transaction is processed, increased by 5.75%.
USING CASH PASSPORT TO MAKES PURCHASES
You can also use your Cash Passport to pay for goods or services (up to the available balance on your Card) at merchants worldwide. Just enter your PIN or sign the receipt as usual.
Merchant transactions and ATM withdrawals in a currency other than the currency of the Card will be exchanged to the currency on the Card at an exchange rate determined by MasterCard on the day the transaction is processed, increased by 5.75%. You can visit the MasterCard Currency Conversion Tool using the currency of your Card as the base currency to find out the MasterCard rate of the day.
DYNAMIC CURRENCY CONVERSION (DCC)
Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) is an optional service that is sometimes offered by retailers and ATM operators abroad, giving cardholders the choice of paying in either the currency of the country they are visiting or their own domestic currency (i.e. Sterling). If you use your Card in a country where the local currency is the same as the currency on your Cash Passport (e.g. using a US Dollar Cash Passport in the USA) and you opt to pay in Sterling, this may result in a foreign exchange transaction at additional cost to you. If you wish to avoid this risk, you should opt out of the DCC service and choose to pay in the local currency.

Simply go to a participating ATM in UK or Europe displaying the MasterCard® Acceptance Mark, select 'PIN Services' and follow the instructions on the screen. Click here for the MasterCard ATM locator. Please note, you cannot change the PIN on a MasterCard Cash Passport over the phone.
TRANSACTION AND BALANCE ENQUIRIES
Simply go to the 'My Account' page on this website, register your Card and you’ll be able to see your Cash Passport balance straight away – you can also check out any recent transactions here.
Alternatively, you can phone Card Services to use the automated balance service. Some ATMs also provide balances, however if the local currency of the ATM is not the same as the currency on your Cash Passport, the exchange rate used by the ATM to calculate the balance of the Card may be different to that applied to your Card and a slight variation may occur.
If you have any queries about your Cash Passport balance or you notice a Card transaction that you do not recognise, please notify the 24 hour Card Services team as soon as possible and in any event within thirteen (13) months of the transaction debit date. They will be happy to check and confirm the transaction details for you. If there is a transaction which is not correct, Card Services can start the dispute process on your behalf and may request you to provide additional written information concerning any unrecognised transaction, or to complete a Dispute Claim Form (See your Terms and Conditions for further information). Please help them to help you by providing as much information as you can. It is recommended that you check your transaction history and Card balance at least once a month.
Replace or Cashout your Card
Just take your Cash Passport and valid photo ID back to the branch of the building society, retailer or travel agent you bought it from, to transfer any remaining balance and load a new one (subject to availability). Please see the Cashout and Close section below for other options of transferring your available balance.
LOST OR STOLEN CARDS
If your Cash Passport is lost or stolen, contact Card Services immediately so they can cancel it and organise a free replacement. Rest assured that your balance is PIN protected and your funds can still be accessed with the Additional or Secondary Card.
CASHOUT AND CLOSE
If you would prefer not to keep your Card for another trip, you can withdraw your remaining balance (assuming it is within the ATM's issuing limits) from an ATM displaying the MasterCard® Acceptance Mark. Alternatively, you can take your Cash Passport (and valid photo ID) back to the place where you bought it and have your balance refunded; less any applicable fees (see your respective Terms and Conditions for more information).
You can also cash out your Card via the telephone by calling Card Services. Please note you cannot cashout your card at Yorkshire or Clydesdale branches.
